PANIC IN OSOGBO, OSUN STATE CAPITAL

Panic in Osogbo as food company disappears with customers' millions

There was panic in Osogbo, Osun State on Monday after a food company selling items at cheap prices reportedly shut down and disappeared with customers' money.

The company, located at Odi-Olowo opposite NEPA office, was selling a 50kg bag of rice for N20,000 to N30,000 instead of the market price of N60,000 to N70,000. It also sold Indomie, vegetable oil, spaghetti and semovita at very low prices.

Customers were asked to pay in advance and return after seven days to collect their goods. Early buyers reportedly got their items, which attracted hundreds of other customers from Osogbo and other towns.

However, on Monday, customers who went to collect their goods met a locked shop. The operators were nowhere to be found.

Angry customers gathered at the shop demanding refunds, while police officers were deployed to maintain order.

The total amount involved and number of affected customers have not been confirmed.
